Summary
Everyone has the right to adequate housing. This right is affirmed in dozens of international treaties, conventions, charters, policies, and laws. But what does adequate actually mean? Is it purely subjective, or are there standards to which we can hold one another accountable?
Sunday, June 20th is World Refugee Day! A day designated by the United Nations to honor refugees around the globe. It falls each year on June 20 and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.
World Refugee Day is an occasion to build empathy and understanding for their plight and to recognize their resilience in rebuilding their lives.
Join us on Sunday, June 20th at 7 PM at Every Shelter’s prototype refugee shelter in Houston’s East End.

We will walk you through the global issues of displacement and our creative, compelling work to solve some of the most challenging problems faced by millions around the globe. You’ll be able to touch and feel Every Shelter’s innovations as you explore a full-sized refugee shelter.
Kids are welcome! There will be kid-appropriate activities that will help your child engage and learn while having fun. These activities include a craft, storytime, popsicles, and free play in the grassy area.
With the event being mostly outdoors, masks or face coverings are optional. Bugs spray, WATER, and sunscreen are encouraged.
